Free Consumer Education Classes

DHOC offers FREE consumer education classes to help you purchase a home, save your home or take charge of your finances:

DHOC’s Home Buyer Education Class offers a comprehensive overview of the home purchase process, including useful consumer tips on mortgage options, property selection, contract negotiation, finding professional services like attorneys and inspectors, and much more.   This class is required to participate in the DuPage Homestead Program and the DuPage County Neighborhood Stabilization Program.

Preserving Homeownership Orientation Session is for DuPage County homeowners who are struggling to make their mortgage payments in today's tough economy and is required in order to schedule an individual counseling session with DHOC.  We’ll review the forms you need to complete and the information you need to provide in order to have a productive counseling session. We also will explain how you can get organized to work directly with your mortgage lender/servicer, and review the typical foreclosure prevention options currently available.

Understanding Credit will help you decipher your credit report, use credit wisely and address credit problems that may be harming you in ways you don’t even realize.

Cash Management, Money and Banking will show you how to get back on track financially with critical advice on budgeting and important consumer alerts about predatory loan products that are hazardous to your financial health.
